FILM INDUSTRY EXPERIENCE (Selected List)

  • 2010: Director & Producer - Typing
    A 35mm short comedy about two MGM screenwriters in 1939 struggling to write a movie starring Robert Montgomery with the requirements of it having sex, adventure, and a dog.
  • 2010: Director, Writer & Producer – May 16, 1955
    A 35mm drama that deals with a farmer and his wife devastated by the tragic death of their child which puts them at odds in how they deal with the loss.
  • 2009: Director & Producer - Stages of Emily
    Director of a festival-bound comedic short film about a girl’s coming of age story told through the five stages of grief as she learns to stand up to her mother.
  • 2008: Director & Producer – ‘Halpern’s Yes & Productions’
    Worked developing, writing, budgeting, producing, and delivering content for the Chicago 2016 committee’s online Olympic promotional campaign.
  • 2008: Writer/Producer/Director - Vivo: Bridge over Troubled Water
    Created a Sitcom Pilot about a quirky psychologist who wades through a series of personal disasters as a single father that spins his life out of control.
  • 2007 – Present: Director & Producer - MPZ – Video Shorts
    Collaborating with sketch comedy group Maximum Party Zone creating content for release on the Internet.

TEACHING EXPERIENCE

  • 2010 – Present: iO Theater, Adjunct Faculty
    Co-creator and instructor of the Sketch Comedy Video Elective. Class deals with the translation of written, improvised, and staged scenes to the film medium.
  • 2006 – Present: Columbia College Chicago, Adjunct Faculty
    Instructor for eight semesters of Film Production and Directing for undergraduate students. Courses cover script writing, directing, and producing.
  • 2007 – Present: Chicago Filmmakers, Adjunct Faculty
    Instructor for six semesters of Directing One. Course covers the basic elements of directing; text analysis, casting, collaboration, shooting, editing, and distribution.
